Fresh Idea: Faith Petals CDROM

Client Name: Faith Petals
Objectives: The primary objective behind the development of the Faith Petals CDrom was to help promote Jean Werth's inspirational book, "There's Someone in your Kingdom, Lord". What we needed to keep in mind when developing the CDrom was, first and foremost, the need to cater to the lowest common denominator of PC users, meaning individuals who might not have one of the newer, faster computers. Also, it was important that we make potential buyers aware of the fact that the CDrom version of the book contains a bit more "bang for the buck" than the print verison, to give a justifiable reason for purchasing one over the other. And lastly, we wanted to develop something that was attractive and full-featured, and that was worthy of presenting to prospective clients who might be interested in having us create an interactive cdrom for them.
Solutions: We chose Macromedia Director, and an add-on for Director called "PrintXtra" to develop the interactive CDRom, in addition to Adobe Photoshop. In order to ensure that the presention would run on slower machines, we simply developed (and tested) using a slower machine, and set the monitor's screen resolution to match that of the presentation. To communicate the "more bang for the buck" message to prospective buyers, additional poems and prayers were added, as well as a linked table of contents, a bookmarking functionality that "remembers" where you last left off, the ability to print any of the pages, and the ability to visit the Faith Petals web site (www.faithpetals.com) and contact the author directly through the cdrom. In the end, the client was very pleased, and we had an attractive and full-featured CDrom presentation that we could show to prospective clients.
